Sandy sat in front of me in several classes and we were able to pass notes back and forth in French tests. I treasured her for that (my French has served me well over the years and I hardly ever break into it without flashing on NBHS French class). In our senior year she gave me a large charcol portrait of herself and I somehow hung on to it through all the turbulent years that followed. Incredible to relate, I brought her portrait to the 1997 reunion with the hopes of returning it to her. But she was absent and I left it with someone to pass along to her. Sandy's death was a blow.
