Visitation in - Raleigh 2PM Saturday February 15 West Raleigh Presbyterian Church  27 Horne Street Raleigh.

John was the kid with the big tricycle who lived above us in the apartments, Glenwood Gardens, at Oberlin Road and Glenwood Ave in Raleigh.  His family and mine were of NCSU professors.  Both families relocated to within a mile each other.  Johns house was on my Raleigh Times paper route.  My neighbors across the street, the Millers (deceased) also went to Peru.  They were all in Crop Science.  My father was in Horticulture.   Johns older sister Jane was in Ag Extension as was my father.  Johns mom gave my sister a bridal shower in their home on Duplin. I attended a NC State foot ball game from their season tickets.

John's life touched so many.

What sad news.  I was in Peru with John from 1963 to 1965.  Our families were both with the NC agricultural mission from NC State. We stayed family friends until we both graduated.  Throughout the years we would run into each other and play the “do you remember when?” game. It is always sad to lose a long term friend.  RIP John.  Betty (Uzzle) Smith

Blessings and love to John's family.  We grew up together and I have many fond memories of our school years together.  I always think of John with a big smile and open heart.  He will be missed and always appreciated!

Even thought John and I were at Broughton at the same time, I got to know him better later in life.  He continued the graciousness, kindness and generosity that others have discussed.  Nothing but good thoughts and memories of John.

Very sorry to hear of John's passing.  He and his family arrived in Lima about 6 months before I returned to Raleigh. He was great fun and I had a huge crush on him in 9th grade while in Lima.

Sincere prayers and thoughts to his family.
