I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Clark. My immediate two memories are the 6th grade Olympics at JY Joyner where his class, the smart ones, were competing against my class, the average ones, in athletic events. Clark and I were the last two standing in the great softball throw. We both threw it out of the outfield in to the woods. After a long hesitation by the teachers, I was declared the winner; but I believe Clark really was. The second was at Daniels in track. Clark was such a student of the sport, doing so much research in encyclopedias and/or books to understand running form etc...
I always admired Clark so much for his intelligence and for simply being such a nice person.
Clark was such a nice person. He and I shared a carpool to JY Joyner for all our elementary school years. He was nice then and remained a truly kind and caring person all the years that followed.
I am sorry to hear of Clarks' passing. We were classmates from elementary school (J Y Joyner) through Broughton. He was always such a nice and caring person.
I was so glad Clark could give the blessing for our 50th Reunion in person and for our 55th by video. He truly cared about our class and was with us in any way he could serve. I'm so proud he was a member of our Class.
My wife Sandi and I had the rare honor of having Clark as our wedding pastor 45 years ago. We visited him in Snow Hill NC for pre-marriage counseling, and then he came to Atlanta for the ceremony. We would all check in with each other from time to time.
I remember Clark’s senior year at Broughton as a 100-yard dash guy--practice, practice, practice. Also a good Junior League pitcher. Clark was Herr Watt's main advocate and outstanding student of German at Broughton and in college.
One last story was a conversation we had about his gas station/pool hall ministry--and his desire to minister to his post grad community where he found them. That was Clark.
