Johnny Carter was a quiet guy...but he was always thinking - usually about music.
He was an excellent bass player and a friend to all of us in the SANDS.

Sad news. While at Martin, Johhny played bass in a group with Eugen Craven, Benjie Yarborough, and others. He was quiet and reserved, but knew how to party when a party was on.

Johnny was one of my best friends. The first band I played in consisted of Gene Craven and me on guitar, Ronnie White on drums, and Johnny on bass. We knew 2 songs when we played at Martin's 9th grade social. We were a hit. I think we played each song 5 times. We had so much fun in those early days. I was so sad to see his name on this list.

Scott, your band played "Wipe Out" at least a dozen times to be enjoyed by the audience each time. It took place in the Martin cafeteria. Great memories. Hope all is well!

Johnny Carter was the type of guy you always wanted in your band.   Great player, easy disposition and rock solid dependability. I tried to recruit him into the Sands on at least two occasions. When I heard the news I was shocked.
