I was at Broughton with Richard and Anne. Later Richard and I were at N.C. State together. I bumped into Richard one day in the sunken garden by the N.C. State library. He told me that Anne worked with a girl that they had discussed and thought was perfect for me. Richard offered to take me on a blind date. I had just come off a couple of blind dates from hell and refused. Less than an hour later I bumped into Richard again on the exact same spot. We laughed about the coincidence but then I told him it must be fate and accepted the blind date. She was to be my wife of, so far, 53 years. Thank you Anne for your perception and love. And I was only ever in that garden twice, so it must have been fate for which I am very grateful.

What I remember about Anne was her beautiful smile.

Yes, her smile was beautiful and also her eyes!
